Be Aware - There Is a Car Scam Targeting Senior Citizens

Frauds and Scams No Comments »

Recently I have heard of a car scam that is targeting senior citizens.  Routinely a man will flag down the person, tell him (or her) that there is something wrong with his car, and then offer to fix it for a cash fee.  The scam has taken different directions from there.  In several cases, the scammer’s accomplice gave the victim a ride to get money for the payment, and when they returned to the car, the scammer said the work was done, and the two disappeared.  Obviously, no work was done.  In another case, the victim was taken home to get money, and both money and jewelry were stolen.

Keep Talking About the Issues and Candidates

I’m excited — This is the first Presidential election in a long time in which people are actually talking about the issues and the candidates.  While Barack Obama and John McCain have obvious ideological differences, they are both men of good character.  And I believe that they both love their country.  And, no matter who wins, history will be made.  We will have our first African-American president or our first female Vice President.

Try to avoid all the media hype about the things that don’t matter - like Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy - and take the time to learn where the candidates stand on issues such as Social Security, health care, education, energy sources, and foreign policy.  Be informed and make your vote count!
